TWO Suzuki C50 Bobber Build Day 14

Untitled-1The new phonebook is here! The new phonebook is here! Oh, and the rest of my parts too 🙂 The huge order of parts from came in – definitely check them out and tell them TwoWheelObsession sent ya! Awesome looking stuff, my feeling of it being very high quality was well founded – in my hands I’m even more impressed, it’s going to be an AWESOME bike. Everything was timed well today – but I DID have to skip my wedding industry meeting, there was just no way around it. I got some more minor frame cutting done, trimmed the battery box down, got the new rear brakes ready, the new tires finally got mounted at the very end of the day. The tubes were so bad, they had rust layers built up on the rubber inside! It was $100 for the mounting, tubes, valve stems and balance, so a good deal. The rims have a horrific natural balance, they both needed a crapload of weights, so it’s possible I’ll need to return for a tweak but we’ll see. I go through the unboxing and show you all the new stuff! Oh and I got the clutch cable lubed and ready to go.

They have marketed them selves as All American Made. Like baseball, hot dogs and apple pie. When you here about a biker gang you think of there bike as Harley’s.

H-D has inherited the mantle of the modern day cowboy. It represents freedom and rugged independence. When I think of Harleys I imagine a lone rider out on a road in the badlands. Either that or a gang of Hell’s Angels stomping the crap out of hippies at a Rolling Stones concert. Never owned a Harley, Triumph’s more my gig, but I do admire them.

I believe it is the baby boomer generation that is driving sales, people my age want something they saw when they were younger and not as well off financially. The Harleys are now made much better and the after market allows them to make it perfect in their eyes. Two of my riding pals have road kings and when I take them for a ride alongside my fjres they can see the flaws with a non-kickstand bike, that is low on power and handles well on the straight but can’t keep up in the curves . Plus, if you don’t have a huge ego that vtwin and loud exhaust will all of a sudden make you king of the road. for me, they are overpriced and need more money,i.e. screaming eagle kit, to make them run better. Just my opinion, I will take the fjr anyday
