CA SR 74 – Pines to Palms Hwy

DSCN0647edt_thumb-1Great 260 mi day ride from sea level to the Mile High, Pines to Palms Hwy (CA SR 74) to Palm Desert with 4 Yamaha FJR’s, Goldwing, Hayabusa, BMW 1600, and a Honda cruiser. Featuring great twisties on the Idyllwild National Forest Hwy and “Seven Level Hill” overlooking Coachella Valley and Palm Desert.

Route 74 between San Juan Capistrano and Lake Elsinore, due to its twisty roads and high traffic volume, holds an ominous claim to fame as one of the most dangerous highways in the California. On August 11, 1930, CA SR 74 was officially named the Pines to Palms Highway.
