Today I took out a new 2015 Ducati Scrambler Icon Edition for a full run down! I had never tried any scrambler bike – which is not just a model name but a genre of bike. It’s defined as a small light streetbike that can also tackle light offroad duty. While i can certainly see how it’s many good qualities for that specific purpose would be assets, for my wants and needs as a pure streetbike (nowhere to ride off road) it actually detracted. Build quality wise it’s excellent with a smooth strong power plant, great light fun handling and an almost bicycle feel to many of the ride points. The tank is unusually small and low, you really feel like you are on top of the whole thing completely. I’m glad I rode it, it’s another case of preconceived expectations being completely off the mark and proves why you should always test ride before buying a bike!
